Griffs score 32 runs, extend unbeaten streak to 10

IMPERIAL – The Grossmont College Griffins exploded for 32 runs en route to their 10th-straight game without a defeat, as they crushed host Imperial Valley with a shutout on Tuesday.

Grossmont leadoff hitter DAVID MALDONADO, who already had a seven RBI game this season, drove in six runs in the victory over the Arabs with a 4-for-5 performance.

Meanwhile, slugger NOAH STROHL drove in five with four hits, including his third home run of the season.

ERIC DE LA ROSA, ROBERT BOSTEDT and CHASE TITLAH all added three RBI.

TIM HOLDGRAFER started and threw five innings for the win, striking out five.

COREY JOHNSON and TREVOR ROW both struck out the side in their one inning of work each.

All in all, the Griffins hurlers struck out 13 Arabs, while issuing no walks.

Grossmont is alone in first place for the time being in the PCAC at 7-0 (12-5-1 overall), while Imperial Valley fell to 0-7 (2-20) in conference play.

The Griffins continue the week’s three-game series on Thursday at 2 p.m. at IVC before taking on the Arabs at home on Friday at 1 p.m.
