VISTA 11, PATRICK HENRY 8 – A late rally by the Patriots just wasn’t enough as the Vista Panthers held on to claim the Jaguar Classic home contest.

Patrick Henry in the top of the first went to work as leadoff hitter HANNAH MCEWEN (3-4, R, 2B) singled, stole second and would come into score on the RBI double by CASSIE VAN TIL(3-4, 2 R, RBI, 2B, SB), she would come into score on a sacrifice by MADISON JAMES (1-2, R, 2B) to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead.

Unfortunately, that lead didn’t last as the Panthers were able to put a three spot on the board to lead 3-2.  Patrick Henry answered in the top of the second as the offense again was able to come through and put a run on the board.  A two-out single by MAGGIE ZIMMERLY (1-3, R), McEwen followed with a single putting runners on first and second, Van Til on a 1-2 count laced a single that scored Zimmerly making it 3-3.

Patrick Henry retook the lead in the top of the third inning when SAVANNAH CHAPMAN (2-4, R, 2 RBI) hammered a shot over the fence for the solo shot making 4-3. However, Vista in the bottom half answered with three runs to go up 6-4. They extended their lead to 8-4 an inning later with a couple of runs.

The lead was cut into by Patrick Henry in the top of the fifth when LAUREN NETT (1-1, 2 SB, 2B, 2 R) doubled and scored on a single by James to make it 8-5. Vista countered with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 11-5.

The Patriots were down to their last at-bat in the top of the seventh. Leadoff hitter Van Til singled, Nett followed with a single, both would double steal so both advanced to second and third, James would walk to load the bases, Chapman knocked in Van Til to make it 11-6, LAILA SPRACKLEN (2-4, RBI) knocked in Nett to make it 11-7, and HAILEY JENNKS (RBI) drove in a run making it 11-8. Unfortunately, that would be the closest the Patriots would get as the next batter would be retired for the final out of the game.

CHRISTIAN 3, CENTRAL 0 – Pitching for the Patriots was on as they limited the Spartans to three hits on the day in the victory down in the desert.

The Patriots offense was able to push across a couple of runs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0. A couple of innings later in the top of the fifth, the final run was scored to make it 3-0 in favor of Christian.

MISSION BAY 4, HELIX 3 – The Buccaneers claimed a one-run victory over the Highlanders in a Highlander Classic clash.
