LAKESIDE – The El Capitan Vaqueros’ star tandem of TREVOR PEREZ and WES BUCKNER combined for 13 goals to help drown Mira Mesa, 15-7, in the season opener Tuesday afternoon.
Perez had seven tallies, while Buckner had six.
The Vaqueros are back in action on Friday, Sept. 7 at home against Southwest High.
Meanwhile, the Highlanders dropped another close game Tuesday evening against Mar Vista at Helix. Down 8-5 entering the 4th, the Highlanders scored 3 straight goals, but the Mariners were able to answer 20 seconds later to notch the game winner.
Up next for the Highlanders is Rancho Buena Vista next Tuesday at 5 at Helix.
