The offense for the Highlanders got a late start as they eventually got going and scored all the runs needed in the late innings.
With the Knights leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning the Highlanders would get the run back when Nicole Hernandez (1-3, R, RBI) cranked one over the left field fence to tie the score 1-1.
Helix took the lead for good in the top of the fifth when Laurali Patane drove in Erin Brown (3-4, 2R) and Mckenzie Flores (3-4, 2R, 2 RBI, HR) to lead 3-1.
They added four more runs in the sixth inning as Avery Perez (1-4, R, RBI) knocked in Bella Bordine and Flores would triple which scored both Bordine and Brown and Patane rounded the scoring with a single.
Besides at the plate, Patane got the victory going 4 innings while only giving up an unearned run. She would be relieved by Zoe Kulhken who went 2 innings of scoreless ball to get the save.
HELIX 13, SERRA 6
A big third inning for the Highlanders gives them the necessary runs to claim the victory over the Conquistadors.
However before the third inning the Highlanders started their damage in the bottom of the first inning when with one out Erin brown (4-4, 3R, 2 RBI, 2 2B) doubled in a run, Mckenzie Flores (3-3, 3R) advanced Brown to third with a single and went to second on a throwing error, they both would score on a Laurali Patane base knock and she scored on a hit by Zoe Kulhken.
Helix added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning as they had multiple hits including singles by Alofa Collins, Brown, Flores and Patane.
Leading 6-0 the offense really exploded in the bottom of the third inning when the Highlanders put 7 runs on the board thanks to a double and 7 singles. After it was said and done the Highlanders led 13-1.
Getting the victory was Zoe Kulhken.
