NON-LEAGUE

GRANITE HILLS 10, HIGH TECH HIGH SD 0

Behind the dominance in the circle by Staci Chambers (3-5, R, 3 RBI) and the bats coming alive the Eagles came away with the convincing road victory to claim their ninth in a row.

The Eagles got things going in the top of the first inning as Staci Chambers knocked in both Baily Wallace (1-2, R) and Kara Blanchard (RUN) who scored on the throw to make it 2-0.

They added a third run in the top of the second on a successful steal of home by Brooke Bertussi (R, 2 SB).

Granite threatened again in the top of the third inning with one out as Chambers and Julia Tysling (2-3) each hit back-to-back singles, Erica Simon (1-2, R, RBI, HR) in to run for Chambers and Sydney Huse (1-3, RBI) walked to load the bases. Unfortunately, they came up empty as the next two batters would be retired to end the inning.

However the Eagles wouldn’t come up empty in the top of the fourth as Haley Johnson (3-5, R, 4 RBI, 2B) knocked in both Rylee Omahen (1-2, R) and Wallace to take a 5-0 lead. They added another run to lead 6-0.

Granite took an even bigger lead in the top of the sixth on a two run bomb over the right field fence by Johnson which also scored Amaya Esparza (1-1, R).

Leading 8-0 the Eagles were not done in the sixth inning as Huse roped a run scoring double scoring Chambers to make it 9-0.

The Eagles tacked on their final run in the top of the seventh on a solo blast over the left field fence by Erica Simon.

Chambers in the dominant win went the distance as she tossed 7 innings giving up 0 runs on 4 hits while walking 0 and fanning 16 on the day.

CITY – EASTERN LEAGUE

SERRA 8, CHRISTIAN 7

In a back and forth affair the Conquistadors were able to hold off the Patriots and claim the home victory.

Christian wasted no time in getting things going as Silent Rain Espinoza (2-4, 3R, RBI, 2B, HR) doubled, stole third base, Audrey Shebloski (2-3, 3R, 3 RBI, 2B, HR) walked with one out and both her and Espinoza came into score as Shannon McMahon (3-4, 2B, SB, 2 RBI) ripped a double to make it 2-0.

Serra would come right back and the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first inning. They would take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

Trailing now by two runs the Patriots in the top of the third inning tied things up again as Ashley Carter (1-4, 2B) doubled, she would come around to score on a double by Shebloski who also scored in the inning as well.

With the score now tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth, the Conquistadors once again took advantage of opportunities and pushed across three runs to retake the lead 8-4.

However, this didn’t slow the Patriots down as they pushed back in the top of the fifth inning as Shebloski once again came through as she blasted a two-run bomb to cut the deficit 8-6.

The Patriots would only push across one more run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run by Espinoza to cut the Conquistadors lead 8-7. Unfortunately, that would be the closest the Patriots would get.
