CHULA VISTA (12-12-2018) – Coming off a convincing win against La Costa Canyon, the Bonita Vista Barons were back on track on Wednesday night.

Confidence is definitely not lacking on this squad, along with plenty of a fight-to-the-end mentality.

Cathedral Catholic definitely came into this contest with a very respectable resume and a 6-3 record, six-game winning streak, with wins over powerhouse Mount Miguel, and Del Norte.

Bonita Vista was down early, but still very competitive, only down 14-7 in the first quarter, and definitely showed they could compete , down 35-27 heading into intermission.

Being under such winning tutelage in regard to head coach Tristan Lamb, and assistant Peter Ruiz, it is no wonder these young ladies have so much resilience and believe in overcoming adversity.

The Barons would hang around, however in the second half of play, eventually fizzle out as the Dons being so speedy down the court, outscored the Barons, 36-22, in the second half.

Ultimately the Dons claimed their sixth-straight victory, 71-49.

The Barons (5-5), are currently at .500, are currently ranked No. 19 in the San Diego Section, however in Division 1, the Barons remain at No. 10, just two spots behind Cathedral Catholic, although, at press time the Dons had just defeated the San Marcos Knights, the seventh-straight win for the Dons, who are now 7-3.

“This game came down to execution that’s where we struggled,” Lamb said. “But Cathedral had a huge line-up that played a big part in our struggles. We had success with our defensive game plan, but they also did a few things defensively that bothered us.

“ANNETH GRIJALBA, played hard and has been one of our most consistent players on both ends of the ball,” Lamb said.

The Lady Barons will participate in the Las Vegas Holiday Showdown Tournament at Bishop Gorman, more specifically, the ladies will be facing Centennial (1-0) on Saturday, December 15 at 1:30 p.m.
