Hawks’ Rodriguez powers Waveriders

WAVERIDERS 5, WILD 3 – San Diego Christian College’s Aidan Rodriguez, a sophomore-to-be, hit a two-run home run to left to snap a 3-all tie in the seventh inning on Wednesday.

The Waveriders’ Matt Pierson had a two-run double to deep center on the previous at-bat to tie the game at 3-all.

In the fourth, Zach Seghal, from Stanford, had a two-run double in the fourth to give the Wild a 3-0 lead.

JETS 9, WARRIORS 5 – Nate Mills, from Towson University, had a two-out hit to drive in a pair of runs for a 7-5 lead in the last of the seventh on Wednesday.

The Jets’ Grant Holman, the former Eastlake great, hit a sac fly to tie the game at 5-all. Holman also had a two-run singled in the third inning.

The Warriors’ Jared Breedwell (USF) had an RBI singled to give his team a 5-3 lead.

Maximus Cappello earned the win by pitching the final three innings for the Jets, allowing one hit.

 

BREWERS 10, LONG BOARDERS 7 – Two-run doubles by Kyle Nevin (Baylor) and Ryan Cho (Hawaii-Hilo) lifted the Brewers (4-0) to their fourth-straight come-from-behind victory on Tuesday at Christian High.

Wyatt Hendrie (San Diego State) hit his second home run of the season for the Long Boarders (2-2).

Connor O’Brien (Bradley University) had two-run home run for the Long Boarders.

Tyler Meaux hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to give the Log Boarers a 6-3 lead.

Mikey Perez (UCLA) also homered for the Long Boarders.

Brewer Santiago Gomez (San Diego City) struck out three over two frames, earning his second win of the season.

 

WARRIORS 2, HOOKS 1 – On Tuesday, Nick Naccarato (University of San Francisco) drove in a pair of runs.

Brian Leonhardt (San Diego State), of the Warriors, went 3-for-4, including a double.

The Hooks’ Mike Jarvis had an RBI double in the eighth.

Garrett Nasif, the former St. Augustine Saint now at Grinnell (Iowa) College, came on in the ninth to earn the save.

 

LONG BOARDERS 9, WARRIORS 2 – San Diego State junior-to-be Wyatt Hendrie had a three-run home run in the third inning and Dartmouth’s Kade Kretzschmar, out of San Marcos, hit a grand slam in the fourth frame.

 

WILD 8, HOOKS 3 – Ruben Fontes drove in two runs in the Wild’s five-run third on Tuesday.

The Wild’s Michael O’Hara (Santa Clara) drove in a pair of runs with a hit in the fourth inning.

 

WAVERIDERS 10, SHARKS 8 – Former Granite Hills Eagle Clay Fordham pitched two innings for the Waveriders, striking out four while giving up one earned run.

Fordham is scheduled to attend Grossmont College next season.

UNLV’s Jordan Andrade drove in three runs for the Sharks.

Waverider reliever Keanu Walkush earned the save.

Axel Dobreff, of Palomar College, got the win by retiring all six of the batters he faced late in the game, striking out two.

 

BREWERS 2, JETS 1 – The Brewers’ Dayton Dooney hit a home run with one on and one out in the bottom of the eighth for the 2-1 lead.

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs right-hander JJ Rytz earned the win after pitching a scoreless seventh and eighth inning. Andrew Rueter earned the save.

Grossmont College’s Jonah Sebring pitched three scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out two for the Jets.

Brewer right-hander Jon Sotto struck out five through three innings, allowing one hit.

Jets reliever Daniel Jeremiah, from Christian High, had a strong outing on the mound.

 

SHARKS 2, JETS 1 – The Sharks won the first extra-innings game in the San Diego League this season when Hudson LaBarbera scoring the winning run on an error.

Sharks right-hander Jack Hyde (USD), out of Grossmont, started and allowed one run in three innings.

Grant Holman (Cal), of the Jets, had four strikeouts in two innings,
