Wholestaff leads Patriots to sweep

EL CAJON – The Christian High Patriots used a bullpen by committee – otherwise known as Johnny Wholestaff – and completed a three-game sweep of the La Jolla Vikings by holding on for a 4-3 victory on Thursday afternoon.
Seven Patriots toed the slab proving to the club it can win as a team. It had to be the most satisfying win of the season for the Pats.
La Jolla scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Patriots scored four runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run double to left field by Hunter Kaul for a 3-1 lead.
Andrew Carlock started the game and pitched two innings, allowing the unearned run in the top of the first.
Will Carlock drew a bases-loaded walk to score the first Christian run.
Shane Bailey added an RBI ground out for the fourth run.
Vaughn Major had two hits and scored a run.
Grant Heinrich, Josh Meekins, Nathan Cena, Shane Bailey, and Aaron Shebsloski all pitched one inning for the Patriots.
Shebloski earned the save with his inning of work, striking out a pair. He came in after the Vikings had scored a run in the top of the seventh.
