Sultans’ full attack subdues Storm

SAN DIEGO (3-10-22) – On a day when the Santana Sultans scattered eighteen hits they would take full advantage of their opportunities to come away with the 23-0 victory over the High Tech High Storm on Thursday afternoon in Falcon Fiesta action.

Two Santana pitchers would see action in the circle but it would be Ashtyn Niemiec getting the win as she allowed four hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Her counterpart Gracie Johnston came in and went the final two innings in which she allowed zero runs on one hit while striking out four and walking one on the day.

Offensively the Sultans did the majority of the damage over the first couple of innings in which they scored fifteen runs.

Leading the charge for the Sultans was Samantha Sullivan who went 4-for-6, scored four runs, and drove in a pair of runs. She also doubled three times.

Other contributors on the day were Madison Jordan who tripled and homered including driving in five runs and scoring three times, Jordyn Beatty had a pair of hits and drove in three runs and scored once, Hailey Phillips who came into run would touch the plate four times, Kaitlyn Ours went 3-for-5 and drove in a run and scored once.

Even both pitchers contributed to their causes at the plate as Niemiec went 2-for-3 while scoring twice and driving in three runs, Johnston drove in a pair of runs as she went 1-for-1 on the day.

Bonita Vista 9, El Capitan 5

LAKESIDE (3-10-22) – Despite out-hitting the visiting Bonita Vista Barons on Thursday afternoon the El Capitan Vaqueros would fall 9-5 as the Barons would use a six-run fourth inning to procure the victory.

Bonita Vista would score a pair of runs in the top of the second inning on a base hit by Bryanna Baca to give them a 2-0 lead.

The Vaqueros would answer with a run in the bottom of the inning when with one out Ava Gall hit a ground ball that would allow Reese Danczak to come into score to make it 2-1.

El Capitan would later in the bottom of the fifth inning score four runs to pull within 8-5. An RBI single by Gall that allowed Alyssa Fierro to come home would make it 8-2, after a pair of walks, Maddy Taylor came up and ripped a triple that would clear the bases. Scoring on the hit were Addison Leone, Shelby Vars, and Jojo Christiaens.

Giulianna Clavel would shut down the Vaqueros the rest of the way to preserve the victory for the Barons.
