Santee (4-18-22) – Seven solid shutout innings by Alyssa Thornton of the West Hills Wolf Pack (6-6) and four runs scored prove to be the winning formula in their 4-0 victory over the visiting El Capitan Vaqueros (14-5) in non-league action on Monday afternoon.

Early on both with both teams going back and forth, the Wolf Pack would break through with the game’s first couple of runs in the bottom of the third inning as they took advantage of a couple of opportunities.

With one out Lily Youngdale (1-3, RBI, SB) would hit a ball that was misplayed which allowed Callia Rooks to race home for the first score and a couple of batters later Naomi Kai (1-3, RBI) would knock in Amaya Angeli (1-4, 2 R, RBI, 3B) to make it 2-0.

Later in the bottom of the fourth inning, West Hills would add to their lead when Angeli tripled to left field to score Samiya Wright which was followed by Youngdale knocking in Angeli to give them a 4-0 lead.

Thornton would run into some trouble after retiring the first two batters in the top of the seventh inning as she allowed back-to-back base hits to Jojo Christiaens (1-3) and Maddie Taylor (2-3) However, nothing would come of those hits as Thornton would get Aubrey Thorne to ground out for the final out of the game.

In the loss for the Vaqueros, Brooke Horn allowed four runs on five hits over three and two-thirds innings of work in which she walked two and struck out six.
