EL CAJON – Ending the regular season on the right foot is always a goal, and that is what the Christian Patriots accomplished as they beat the Canyon Hills Rattlers 5-1 in City Eastern League action on Thursday (May 11).
Christian struck first as Allyson Moody singled in Tyler Krystek, which was followed by Kaitlyn Moody doubling to center field, bringing in Allyson Moody to make it 2-0.
A couple of innings later, the Patriots would extend their lead even further, all with two outs. Kaitlyn Moody came through once again, as she would drive in Allyson Moody. Chloe Hessom would drive in a run, as would Hannah Mroz, who laid down a perfect bunt for a base hit to make it 5-0.
Canyon Hills would score their lone run in the top of the sixth inning.
Allyson Moody, who got the starting nod, picked up the victory, as she went all seven innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out one.
Natalye Debus, who also hit a solo shot for the lone run for the Rattlers, would be tagged with the loss. On the day, she allowed five runs on six hits while fanning eight.
Christian has now won two in a row and moves to 12-8-1 overall and 5-4 in league play while Canyon Hills falls to 15-9-1 overall and 3-5 in league play, having lost three in a row.
Both teams will wait to find out where they will be seeded on Saturday for the playoffs.

San Diego – Despite being outhit, the Scripps Ranch Falcons would score six runs over the fourth and fifth innings to come away with the victory over the Patrick Henry Patriots in City Western League action on Thursday (May 11).
Zoe Rutherford’s groundout brought home Jenna Mallari, and would give the Patriots an early 1-0 lead.
Scripps Ranch, though, would answer with a run in their half of the first to tie things up.
Patrick Henry would retake the lead in the top of the third, courtesy of an RBI single by Izzy Ervin, who would come in to score on a ball hit by Rutherford that was misplayed to give them a 3-1 lead.
The Falcons would take the lead for good with a two-run single and a ground ball out. They would tack on three more runs in the fifth inning.
Savannah Cullen picked up the victory for the Falcons. She allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings while striking out one.
