Patriots Rebound From Nor-Cal Trip

EL CAJON – Trailing 2-1 the Christian Patriots push across a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning and don’t look back as they claimed a 5-2 victory over Canyon Hills Wednesday to open up City Eastern League action.

Christian would take the lead for good in the bottom of the third inning courtesy of an RBI triple by Kaitlyn Moody, and Keels Carrizosa who drove in a run in the inning.

Ava Barrios would get the start and pick up the victory as she allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings while walking three and striking out nine.

Leading the way hitting-wise was Sammy Baca who went 2-for-3 and scored a run for the Patriots.

Ashley Wood, Giselle Colmenero, and Baca all doubled in the contest while Tyler Krystek would score a run and steal a base. The other contributor was Lucy Sherburne who scored a run and stole a base.

Christian moves to 11-4-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.

 

Our Lady ofPeace 9, PatrickHenry 1

OLP 9, PATRICK HENRY 1 – Tough day at the plate as the Patrick Henry Patriots offense was limited to only three hits in the league opener of the City Western League against the Pilots of Our Lady of Peace Wednesday.

Despite striking out nine on the day Belle Will had a tough time as she allowed ten hits and five runs of which two were earned over her five innings of work.

Izzy Ervin led the Patriots with two hits on the day.

The loss snaps the 5-game winnings streak of Patrick Henry as their record falls to 10-7 overall and 0-1 in league action.
