POINT LOMA – With both teams strong pitching something had to give as offensive opportunities would be a limited deal and indeed one came as the Christian Patriots scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to prevail over Point Loma 2-1 Friday afternoon to finish out the regular season.

Christian starter Ava Barrios despite walking eight batters only allowed four hits and one run while fanning twelve over seven innings in the victory.

Lucy Sherburne of Christian would provide that one opportunity the Patriots needed when in the top of the seventh inning would single to center field that would bring home both Lily Reyes and Reese Danczak.

Leading 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning the Pointers would scratch a run on an RBI double off of Barrios before she would finally retire the last two batters needed to end the game and preserve the victory for the Patriots.

Offensively both teams only had four hits each. On the Patriots side, Sherburne went 1-for-4 with the two runs batted in. Ashley Wood, Tyler Krystek, and Danczak had the other hits for Christian.

With the victory Christian moves to 21-6-1 overall and 8-0 in Eastern League play. This is the first time the Patriots have finished undefeated in-league play and their first league title since the 2000s.

Christian will now wait to be seeded for the San Diego CIF Playoffs in Division II which will take place tomorrow. Christian will be seeded in the top four based on the current power rankings which will give them a first-round bye and also guarantee them a home game.
