MIAMI — The San Diego Padres are expected to be a player before the MLB trade deadline on July 31. And with the ball club in town to face the Marlins, major hints and speculation state that the Friars are making a strong bid in obtaining Miami outfielder Kyle Stowers, the team’s representative in last week’s All-Star Game.
Stowers, 27, the former Christian High standout, was one of the promising standouts for the Baltimore Orioles last summer before getting dealt to South Beach.
However, with a potential postseason berth fading away, Miami could be interested in dumping Stowers’ salary. Depending on what San Diego has to offer.
Meanwhile, Padres general manager A.J. Preller can fill a void in left field while adding another left-handed, power-hitting bat.
On Monday (July 21), the Padres downed the Marlins, despite Stowwers’ 22nd hgomer run of the season.
There are several national media stories about this rumored trade. READ HERE. & HERE.
Stowers was a second round pick of the Orioles in 2019.
