Granite Hills 10, El Capitan 1

Jaden Macias
LAKESIDE — When El Capitan joined Granite Hills into the same league following an 8-year absence, the Vaqueros wanted to prove they belonged.
Granite Hills heard it,\ from the Vaqueros… but didn’t see it.
In 2025, While El Cap continued to chirp FROM ITS DUGOUT, the Eagles were busy posting runs, capped by a monster, 3-run homer by Brenden Lewis to cap a 6-RBI performance in an 18-1 pasting.
Well, Granite Hills must own a new motto: “Silence is golden.”
Following road victories of 18-1 and 14-1 at Hostetler Field in 2025, Granite Hills established a new record for dominance on Tuesday (Apr. 14) posting a 10-1 thrashing of the host Vaqueros.
Never has El Cap suffered three straight home losses of such magnitude an any single opponent in school history (since 960).
For Granite Hills, the romp didn’t;t take long to accomplish, scoring five times in the first, then holding an 8-0 margin by the third.
Game Stuff
Granite Hills freshman second baseman Jaden Macias belted two home runs, went 3-for-4 with 11 total bases and drove in four runs, as El Capitan’s solo hold of first place in the Grossmont Hills League lasted just one game-day.
Or in the view of Granite Hills, the first-place stay by El Cap lasted just a brief half-inning after the Eagles scored five times before the hosts received their first chance at the plate.
And it was as easy as 1-2-3 — as in single, double, triple for the defending GHL titlists.
Included was a 2-run double by Eurijah Schutza, an RBI single from Jake Ervon, then a two-run triple off the bat of Macias.
However, there was much more coming from Macias.
Macias pumped a two-run homer to left in the third, then added a solo shot into the same school parking lot in the fifth, making it 10-0.
Schutza also joined the multi-extra base hit parade with a pair of doubles. Weston Pace added two hits with a double.
Eagles pitcher Hoss Harper carried a sutout into the fifth inning, gaining his running his record to 5-1.
The lone Vaqueros run saw Kasen Baker stroke a double, scoring on the second of two doubles by Matthew Eckis.
Grossmont 7, Valhalla 1
At Gizoni Field, Fletcher Hills: Foothillers pitcher Jesse McCormick tossed six steady innings for his second straight victory, passing Grossmont over Valhalla.”J-Mac” struck seven Norsemen batters, while all seven hits allowed were singles.
On offense, five different Hillers drove in one run each. Among the trio — Max Tufugafale, Logan Struck and Dominic Guerra — posted two hits among the nine by Grossmont (8-8 overall, 1-0 GHL) in the school’s league opener.
Trailing 2-0, Valhalla (0-3 GHL) halved the deficit in the fourth when sophomore catcher JoJo Ibrahim singled home Jacob Jarbo, but Grossmont countered with three runs in the fifth to re-gain control.
