Beach power Griffins always in contention

GRIFFINS BEACH VOLLEYBALL

STATE REGIONAL PLAYOFF PREVIEW

Grossmont College women’s beach volleyball is back in the postseason with momentum and a proven championship core, as the Griffins head to Santa Barbara for the 3C2A SoCal Regionals with a berth in the state tournament on the line.

The Griffins (15-6 overall, 9-3 PCAC) earned the No. 5 seed in Southern California and will compete in Group D at East Beach, opening against No. 12 College of the Desert. The winner advances to face No. 4 Santa Barbara City College, with the regional champion moving on to the state championships.

Grossmont enters the regional riding a six-match winning streak and leaning on a pair of high-level duos that have already proven themselves in postseason-style competition.

Leading the way are Kylie Smith and Norma Ramirez, who delivered a 2nd-place finish at the PCAC Pairs Championships, establishing themselves as one of the top tandems in the conference. Right behind them, Kadence Doan and Sophia Neeley placed 3rd, giving the Griffins a second frontline pairing capable of winning against elite competition.

That top-end production is backed by a supporting group that has consistently logged meaningful matches throughout the season, including combinations featuring Andrea Torres, Jaslen Orbita, Tatum Lawton, Lilly Morrison, and Jessica Albro—all players who have contributed in competitive dual formats and provide lineup flexibility across the five courts.

That depth matters in the regional format, where matchups can swing quickly and programs need multiple pairs capable of competing at a high level.

Grossmont’s postseason profile is built not just on this year’s form, but on sustained success.

The Griffins have captured PCAC titles in 2014–2017 and 2019, along with 3C2A state championships in 2016, 2019, and 2023, reinforcing a program expectation that extends beyond simply qualifying.

Now, the objective is clear.

Win the Santa Barbara regional site—and get back to the state stage.

The 2026 3C2A Beach Volleyball State Championships are set for May 7–9 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, where Grossmont will look to add another chapter to its championship history.
