2025 EAST COUNTY PREP SOFTBALL

SANTEE (4/16/26) – Despite not having the reigning East County Player of The Year in the lineup the West Hills Wolf Pack behind a strong pitching performance by Maddie Aylesbury defeated the Granite Hills Eagles 2-0 on Thursday afternoon in Grossmont Hills League play.
Not only did she perform well in the circle she also helped her own cause as she drove in the only tbeiwo runs of the game in bottom of the fifth inning on a two out single to center field scoring both Kyra Rabaya and Jillian Piro.
Taylor Nash who started for the visiting Eagles would take the loss as she allowed two runs on four hits over four and one-third inning in which she walked two and struck out two.
For the Pack, Aylesbury went the distance in which she allowed zero runs on four hits while walking four and striking out two.
Shea Benson of the Eagles tallied a 2-for-3 day at the plate.
On the other side for the Pack lead off hitter Reegan Veltre led the offense with a 2-for-3 day while Aylesbury went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Granite Hills drops to 5-10 overall and 1-1 in league while West Hills the defending Grossmont Hills League champions has won three in a row and moves to 8-9 overall and 1-0 in league.
STEELE CANYON 5, EL CAPITAN 3 – After dropping their league opener the Steele Canyon Cougars bounced back with a victory on Thursday afternoon over the visiting El Capitan Vaqueros.
Steele Canyon started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Izabella Thomas to make it 1-0.
That momentum would be short lived as the Vaqueros tied the score 1-1 in the top of the second inning on a solo home run to left field by Quinnley Morehouse for her first of the season.
With the score tied the Cougars would retake the lead thanks to a run scoring walk by Thomas to give them a 2-1 lead.
Once again the Vaqueros would tie the score in the top of the third inning thanks to Addison Higuera who roped an RBI single down the right field line.
Another short lived tie as Thomas again struck for the Cougars as this time she would drive in a run to make it 3-2. Steele Canyon added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to Kayala Hopkins who ripped a two out double to left field that brought home Belle Will to make it 4-2. They would tack on another run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
El Capitan would score again in the top of the seventh inning when Higuera doubled in Sofia Simone.
Higuera would take the loss for the Vaqueros as she allowed five runs on seven hits over six innings in which she walked seven and struck out six.
Will stepped into the circle for the Cougars and got the win as she allowed two runs on four hits over four innings in which she walked four and struck out five.
El Capitan with the loss falls to 8-8 overall and 0-2 in league play while Steele Canyon moves to 9-10 overall and 1-1 in league.
GROSSMONT VALLEY LEAGUE
GROSSMONT 19, MONTE VISTA 4 (5 INN.) – A big second inning in which the Grossmont Foothillers scored fifteen runs is all the difference as they win big over the visiting Monte Vista Monarchs on Thursday afternoon.
Saraya Roope of Grossmont tallied a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate that included driving in three runs and scoring three times, Madison Busch drove in a pair of runs as she went 2-for-2 including a triple. She also scored twice, sophomore Juliana Short drove in three runs as did Jaidyn Jacques.
As a team the Grossmont Foothillers tallied 12 RBI on the day in the win.
Grossmont moves to 9-5-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.
HELIX 16, EL CAJON VALLEY 0 (5 INN.) – Helix pitcher Lea Moya fanned 10 El Cajon Braves on the day on her way to a five inning perfect game.
On the day the Highlanders offense tallied 18 hits and scored five runs each inning over the first three innings.
Marley Johnson of the Highlanders went 4-for-4 at the plate in which she drove in three runs and scored a run and doubled in the game, Moya besides her efforts in the circle helped herself at the plate with a 3-for-4 day including driving in a pair of runs, Amaya Okafor also had multiple hits for the Highlanders.
Helix with the win now have won eight in a row and move to 16-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.
NON LEAGUE
SANTANA 7, OLYMPIAN 4 – Despite allowing late runs and eleven hits on the day the visiting Santana Sultans came away with the road non-league victory over the Olympian Eagles on Thursday.
The Sultans also would tally 11 hits on the day which included four doubles in the game.
Ashlyn Darrow who drove in a pair of runs in the game would drive in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the second inning Darrow would also drive in another run on a sacrifice fly and Lily Sowinski would rope an RBI double to make it 3-0.
Santana would add to their lead in the top of the fourth thanks to Samantha Mora who tallied a 4-for-4 day would drive in a run to give them a 4-0 lead.
After Olympian pushed across a run in the bottom half of the fifth inning the Sultans would strike with three more runs courtesy of Kaitlyn Ruckle driving in Darrow, Brianna Canty scoring on a passed ball and Vanessa Ryan grounding out that allowed Ruckle to come home.
Alexis Buquet would earn the victory for the Sultans. On the day she would allow 11 hits and four runs over seven innings in which she struck out one.
Santana with the victory has won two in a row and improves to even their record at 9-9 overall.
