Granite Hills 14, El Capitan 7
At Hostetler Field, Lakeside: Granite Hills pulled into a first-place deadlock withHelix with a weeek remaining in the regular season following a football-esque score over host El Capitan.
The Eagles started fast with four runs on their first two trips to the plate for an 8-2 advantage.
Granite Hills utilized plenty of underclassmen, but it didn’t matter as freshman Jaden Macias drilled a home run.
However, junior Jaden Macias belted a pair of homers, collecting three RBI to match Jake Ervin for game honors. Macias batted 3-for-3 and scored twice, also smacking a double.
Matt Eckie homered for El Capitan (10-15-1 overall).
Granite Hills (19-5) needs one additrional victory toreach the 20-win plateau for a sixth consecutive season.
Grossmont 15, Valhalla 1
At Rancho San Diego: Logan Struck and Trey Craford belted home runs in the second inning, when Grossmont scored six times to mounr an 8-1 lead in romping over Valhalla.
The Foothillers (11-14 overall) finished with a season-high 20 hits, thanks to two hits from three players. A trio of others posted two RBI.
Valhalla (1-23) saw JV call-up Jake Karbo record his first career RBI in the sizth, singling home Camryn Conley.
Grossmont Valley League
Steele Canyon 7, Santana 3
At Jamul: In another slow start by the Steele Canyon pitching staff, the Cougars still overcame a 2-0 deificit to grab a 7-2 lead through three innings, going on to down visiting Santana in a key GVL contest.
The victory by the Cougars (12-13 overall) snapped a deadlock for first lace between the teams, ending an 8-game GVL win streak over two seasons by Santana (11-13). The Sultans needed just four batters to place a pair of runs on the scoreboatd.
A double by Landon Braaksma sent Gavin Kelly to third. Of coursem scorekeepers differ: Kelly, th second baseman, either scoredon the hit or an outfield error allowed for an extra base and a
Braaksma, the third baseman, later scored on a basehit by Ryder Davey.
Hoever, the Cougars answered with five runs in the second to grab the lead for keeps.
Roman Garcia drilled a game-tying, two-run double to center field, then he scored the go-ahead runon a line single tio center from Andres Bravo\
Third baseman Austin Hall added a sacrifice fly for a 4-2 lead, then first baseman Gavin Caha lined an opposite-field RBI single to push the margin to three runs.
The pitching win went to sophomore Dylan Granados, who allowed one unearned run over the final 4.2 innings. Grandos yielded just three hits while striking out three Santana batters.

Monte Vista 7, Mount Miguel 1
At Spring Valley: Monte Vista closed with seven nunanswered runs to take down neighborhood rival Mount Miguel, 7-1, in GVL action on Thursday (MNay 7).
The Monarchs (14-11) received an RBI from a half-fozen different players, backing 5,1 innings of shutout relief from winning pitcher van Virto.
Virto, a junior right-hander, allowed just four hits while striking out six Matadorsd Matadors without issuing a base on balls.
The Matadors () scored on an error in the second, then Monte Vista took over with three runs in the third.
Center fielder Xavier Wilson lifted a sacrifice fly to knot theballgame, then the hosts committed an error to fall behind.
Left fielder Ben Kurtz and third baseman Reece Williams each recorded two hits and scorda a run.
For Mount Miguel (4-19), sophomore Emilo Lopez batted 3-for-4, collecting half of his tea;s kmocks.
Elsewhere, West Hills beat El Cajon Valley on a one-hitter, 16-0.
Pacific League
Coastal 9, Foothills Christian 4
At Matt Lachappa Field, Lakeside: The Coastal Academt Stingrays gained at least a share of he thePacific League crown by completing a series sweep of the Foothills Christian Knights.
Six runs by the Stingrays (18-7 overall, 8-4 league) put the victory away early. The Knights *16-10, 6-4 Pac) fell into a tie for second with Francis W. Park.
More importantly, Coastal’s league skate is over, so Foothills Christian (or Parker)must sweep both game next week to gain a co-championship.
For the Rays, Trevor Cochrum posted a pair of RBI doubles and scored three times.
