GROSSMONT 5, HELIX 4 – In a showdown for first place, it was only fitting that the game would have a finish only fit for such a contest as Grossmont freshman Drew Winchester came through in what will more than her biggest at-bat of the season as she drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Grossmont Foothillers the come from behind victory over the Helix Highlanders on Tuesday afternoon.

Grossmont came into the game as slight underdogs and right away struck, thanks to Sahara Roope, who doubled in the bottom of the first inning to give them a 1-0 lead.

They would add another run in the bottom of the third inning when Helix committed an error with two outs that led to Roope scoring to make it 2-0.

They would add more in the top of the fifth inning and take the lead as Sabrina Ramuno drove in both Marley Johnson and Clarissa Torres to make it 3-2 and on the next play a groundball out led to Ramuno coming into score to give them a 4-2 lead.

Moving to the bottom of the seventh and trailing the Foothillers would manage to tie the game at 4-4 when Roope doubled in a pair of runs and the next batter Winchester singled in the game-winning run.
