Moriano earns singles, doubles title at USTA/ITA Western Regional

LA MIRADA (SAT, SEP. 26, 2015) – Alessandro Moriano won the 2015 USTA/ITA Western Regional NAIA Championship Singles Tournament against his own teammate, Michael Rjazanov, in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, and with the help of Daniel Superlano, were crowned Doubles champions on Saturday.
In the Singles semis, Rjazanov defeated Superlano 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 to reach the finals against Moriano.
Moriano defeated No. 1 overall Carl-Philip Lindqvist 7-5, 6-3 before the final match.
Moriano, then with Superlano, turned around and defeated Biola’s Lucas Lee/Luke Mountain 6-3, 6-3.
With the win, Moriano advances to the 2015 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships at Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina for Singles matches. He and Superlano are also entered in the Doubles Championships with the win. The tournament will be held Oct. 15-18.
