SANTA CLARITA – San Diego Christian was looking for a big conference win, and got just what they needed against The Master’s College on Wednesday afternoon defeating the Mustangs 3-0.
Early on, TMC had two shots on goal in the first 15 minutes of play, but it resulted in quality saves by SDC goalkeeper Josh Epstein.
The Mustangs had six shots on goal in the first period while the Hawks were held to just two shots. Through the 1st period, the two teams were knotted at zero.
The second half came around and the Hawks opened things up with a goal in the 60th minute by senior captain, Pedro Henrique. Henrique made that his 11th goal of the season. SDC managed to control the second half, getting into a rhythm and scoring once again in the 79th minute. A goal by Ralf Coalsch put the Hawks up 2-0. Pedro Henrique came up with the assist. Seems as though the Mustangs had no answer for the senior midfielder this afternoon. SDC stormed to a 3-0 advantage with a goal from Borja Suarez in the 87th minute to seal the deal.
Josh Epstein was clutch for SDC coming up with a shutout. He controlled the game with a gutsy performance in the goalie box. SDC moves to 9-6 (4-3, GSAC) while TMC falls to 10-4-2 (4-3-1, GSAC).
Next up for the Hawks is senior night versus Hope International University on Saturday. Kick off is scheduled for 8 PM.
