Wolf Pack rallies for share of Hills title

West Hills seniors on Senior Night.

Grossmont Hills League

West Hills def. Valhalla 20-25, 16-25, 25-12, 25-12, 15-7 – Lauren Ledford, of West Hills, had 14 kills, including the game-winner from setter Samantha Fortin, while teammate Kendall Cady added 12 kills for the Wolf Pack, who earned a share of the league title with the win over co-champion Valhalla at home on Senior Night.

Fortin added 32 assists for West Hills (5-2, 20-9), which also got contributions from Kyra Galloway, Kayli Barrera and Sarah Shine. Lindsay Campbell looked strong on digs.

Maiya Lopez led Valhalla with 16 kills. Valhalla also got major contributions from assisting Brittney Beltz and Mady Woods.

Daily Wilson and Nicole Campos also looked strong for Valhalla.

Granite Hills def. Steele Canyon 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 30-28 – The Eagles knocked off the visiting Cougars, as both teams are headed for the postseason in their respective divisions.

On Senior Night, seniors Diamond Hollis and Lauren Komp both had 11 kills for the host Eagles, which also got strong contributions from Shannon Cooley, Sara Schmidt, Chrissy Berry and Bechet Gossett.

Tyler Sinkovich, of Steele Canyon, led all hitters with 14 kills and added four aces, while Katelynn Caserma-Kloebe, a senior, added eight kills. Junior Ashley Whipple had seven blocks for the Cougars, while teammate Julie May, a sophomore, added six.

Lizzy Bagdasar, a senior, had 51 digs for Steele Canyon, which finished in third place in the Hills League.

Grossmont Valley League

Helix def. Santana 25-10, 25-20, 25-14 – Vanessa Howard, Kiani Ruiz and Destiny Bullock powered the Highlanders to the win over the visiting Sultans, thanks in large part to the terrific setting of Ashlee Hagen.

Janae White, Alina Fletes and Lucy Stronach also contributed to the victory for Helix, which finished the Grossmont Valley League season undefeated at 10-0, going 20-5 overall.

Screen Shot 2015-11-03 at 11.36.44 PMMount Miguel def. El Cajon Valley 25-10, 25-9, 25-10 – Lani Tausaga-Collins and Carly Threadgill led the playoff-bound Matadors to the Valley win.

Jaylene Vega was strong in setting, while Breanna Torres, Deodar Durant. Tiajahanae Armstrong also helped the Matadors’ cause. Aiannah Williams, Deanna Hernandez and Miracle Maseuli also had strong contributions.

Eastern League

Christian def. University City 31-29, 8-25, 27-25, 25-19 – The Patriots won on Senior Night against the Centurions. Kills: A.Dunham (C) 28. Digs: A.Dunham (C) 15, Henige (C) 15. Assists: Larsen (C) 20, Wnek (C) 19.

Monte Vista def. St. Joseph’s 23-25, 25-12, 25-16, 25-21
