Highlanders sweep league schedule for championship

Grossmont League
Helix 2, El Capitan 0 – The Highlanders completed a perfect league season at 10-0, taking down the Vaqueros in the title showdown. The Vaqueros finish second with an 8-2 mark.
Goals for Helix (13-8-2) came from senior Jenna Asimov and freshman Sadie Neville, while junior Carissa Ramirez had an assist, as did Asimov.
Senior Alexis Cormier had the shutout in goal, making three saves.
Senior Casey Hargis led the Highlanders in scoring during the regular season with 14 goals, while Neville finished with 12 and Ramirez had 11, as well as, a team-high 17 assists. Asimov had 12 assists during the regular season.
Helix will likely be the lone East County entrant in the Division 2 playoffs.
Valhalla 1, Santana 0 – The Norse finished 5-5 in the Grossmont League following the shutout of third-place Santana. Goal: N. Warner (V).
