Strong-starting Griffs overpowered by Mesa in second half

EL CAJON (2-6-16) — CHRISTINA BARRAMEDA spun in 16 points for host Grossmont College in Friday’s (Feb. 5) Pacific Coast Athletic Conference encounter against San Diego Mesa College.

The Griffins (7-16, 4-5 PCAC-North) stormed to a 20-11 first quarter lead over the Olympians (9-10, 7-3 PCAC-North). They maintained that advantage and carried a 36-32 lead into intermission.

The second half belonged to Mesa, which overpowered the Griffins 35-20 in the final two quarters.

Mesa finished on top 67-56.

Grossmont committed 24 turnovers in the loss.

JAZMINE BRADLEY chipped in with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the Griffins.

DOMINIQUE MORRISON crashed the boards for 10 rebounds to go along with 8 points.

Next up for the Griffins is a trip to Southwestern College where they will take on the Jaguars at 5 p.m.
