LAKESIDE (12-28-16) — Freshman STEPHANIE ADAMS barreled in a triple-double of 22 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks, 4 assists and 3 steals as El Capitan rolled over Temecula Chaparral 62-24 in Tuesday’s (Dec. 27) SoCal Holiday Prep Classic NAIA Division game.

Not far behind her was MARIE COOK, who rolled a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds to go with 6 assists, 4 blocks and 5 steals to lead El Capitan.

“We were playing without McKENZI KYGAR (ankle) and GRACE BURKETT (possible hairline knuckle fracture). But our bigs were better than their bigs,” said El Capitan assistant coach ROCKY COOK.

WEST HILLS 55, SANTA FE CHRISTIAN 45 (OT) – West Hills had to battle to win this SoCal Holiday Prep Classic NCAA (Black) Division contest.

VIVIAN PANELA hit 6 treys on her way to a team-leading 24 points, while CARLY RALEY contributed 9 points.

“We started off very slow, no energy or urgency,” said Wolf Pack coach RYAN KINSER. “We struggled with Santa Fe’s size but girls didn’t adjust their game to be able to score on the offensive end.  We got some good looks but couldn’t make anything in the first half.

“Our slow play continued the whole 3rd quarter and about half way through the 4th. We were down 16 when Vivian Panela made a couple 3’s and then we were able to press and cause some turnovers leading to some easy baskets.

“With 10 seconds left KERRIE DANIELS made a layup to send it in to overtime.  Santa Fe Christian got into foul trouble and we were able to take control of the overtime period.

“It was a great comeback win but we have to play a lot better the rest of this Tournament.”
