RANCHO SAN DIEGO — MARIANNA MARTINEZ paced Steele Canyon with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in a 56-10 non-league victory over visiting Hoover Tuesday night (Jan. 17) in Cougar Canyon.
LALA WADLEY pitched in 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 steals for the Cougars.
“They weren’t a very strong team but it was a confidence builder for us,” said Cougars coach PETER RUIZ. “After halftime, we slowed the game down and started working on our plays.
“Hopefully the momentum from this game will carry over to the league game against West Hills on Friday.”
Steele Canyon improved to 7-5.

FOOTHILLS CHRISTIAN 62, DEL LAGO 31 – The Knights’ DEVRIE MOSTRONG had 23 points and 27 rebounds, including 20 on the defensive end, as Foothills Christian won in Escondido.
CHRISTINA BUSKA led the Knights with 27 points, as FCHS improved to 8-4 and 1-0 in the Ocean League.
Freshman BROOKE STEELE added four points and seven rebounds for Foothills.
