SANTEE – Two East County players have committed to play at the next level giving the region 15 total players in all, as 13 previously had signed their National Letters of Intent a few months ago.

Earning her trip at the next level is KAYLA MACK, a power-hitting outfielder of the Granite Hills Eagles.

She batted .295 this past season and helped the Eagles reach the Division II semifinals for a second-straight year and the league title for the Grossmont Hills circuit.

Her season earned a second team All-East County berth as a junior. Besides playing for the Eagles, Mack plays for The Next Level or TNL travel club. Mack’s hard work paid off as she will play next year for the Pioneers of Spartan Methodist College and coach JEFF FRIZZELL. Spartan Methodist College is located in South Carolina.

The other commitment in the East County belongs to MACKENZIE BENNETT of the Santana Sultans.

As a sophomore, she batted a team high .526 while clubbing 9 homers and knocking in 34 runs.

Besides the offense, her defense as a catcher changed the way some teams played the Sultans.

It was both of these attributes that earned her a co-player of the year in the East County and also first-team honors for the second season in a row.

Bennett was one of the big reasons why the Sultans were able to compete to the wire for the Grossmont Hills league crown on the very last day of the season.

Besides the Sultans, Bennett plays for the 18 Gold team of the TNL program.

After receiving various offers, Bennett decided to commit to Stephen F. Austin University, a Division One program in the state of Texas, where she will play for Coach NICOLE DICKSON and the Jacks.
