One-run wonder Griffins on winning side this time

IRVINE (2-15-17) — ROBERT BOSTEDT singled to left to drive in a CABOT VAN TIL to give the Griffins a 7-6 victory in 11 innings on Tuesday (Feb. 14) in a non-league game with Irvine Valley College.
Bostedt finished 2 for 4 in the contest and NOAH STROHL also had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Griffins (4-3).
Van Til finished 3-for-5.
JALE SIM doubled home JUSTIN BURKEY and REECE HERNANDEZ added a sacrifice fly as Grossmont took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second.
IVC, however, answered with one in the bottom half and three more in the third for a 5-2 lead.
Grossmont put up three in the fifth, however, behind a sac fly from Bostedt and Strohl’s two-run double.
Irvine Valley’s record is 6-4.
