SPRING VALLEY (12-2- 2017) – Monte Vista came into its non-conference game 3-0 to face Escondido Adventist Academy on Saturday.

The Monarchs have definitely started building a Monarchy after defeating Granite Hills, 64-61, in a close one, then knocked off the Golden Eagles of San Pasqual, 76-66, and finally destroying San Diego Academy 72-53 at their home tournament.

Monte Vista is starting to receive some real respect after the varsity football team just won the Division 4 Championship game against undefeated San Diego High, along with the boys basketball squad doing a fantastic job, taking care of winning a game at a time.

Monte Vista head coach Mike Tully and his talented group should be applauded going undefeated thus far.

The Monarchs once again took care of business on their end with another impressive win, 58-43, over Escondido Adventist on Saturday.

DERRICK WILEY played great defense and gave good effort off the bench with an impressive 11 points and 10 rebounds.

DEONDRE McHALE had 9 rebounds and 7 assists. This young man is the real deal and will be scouted heavily.

Monte Vista’s defense was key as they were down 19-9 after the first quarter and then 31-28 at intermission.

The Monarchs, after Tully gave a word of encouragement in the locker room, had a huge impact as the Monarchs out-scored the Escondido Adventist Academy, 30-12, in the 2nd half.

“The bench play from SAHBIR WATSON and Wiley was key,” said Tully. “JAIDEN DAWN had a phenomenal defensive game.”

The game would never escape the Patriots grip as Carter and Robinson would continue their hot shooting late into the 4th quarter with Robinson (12 points, 3 reb, 3 stls) burying a pair of deep corner 3-pointers while Carter sliced and diced the Wolf Pack Defense on his way to a 30-point, 7 rebound, 6 assist night with no turnovers.

JACKSON LARSEN hauled in another 8 rebounds to go with 7 points and a monster flush midway through the first quarter to open the gates to the Patriots running away with this one.
