The Eagles who came into the contest on a three-game winning streak looked to continue their winning ways in the New Year and were able to do so in a Santana New Year’s Classic contest.

Despite starting off sluggishly as most of the team is fighting off the cold bug that has taken over in the County, the Eagles after trailing at the half finally broke through in the second half.

Taking things into their own hands was senior David Coffey who perked up and started dominating the boards while his teammates the Smith twins, Xsavier and Moses took control on the defensive end.

The efforts of the three really propelled the Eagles and changed the outcome as they rolled to a 22-3 run to lead.

Leading the charge for the Eagles was a trio of scorers made up of McKay Roberts who scored 21 points including 13 in the big third quarter and also knocked down 5 three-pointers, Moses Smith who poured in 11 points and his brother Xsavier Smith who drilled in 10 points.

“It was our good defensive intensity in the second half that won us the ballgame,” said head coach Dan Duffy about the effort in the second half that changed the tide of the game.

With the win, the Eagles push their winning streak to four games in a row and their overall record to 9-3 on the season.
