Griffins hang early, but Riverside rolls

RIVERSIDE – The Grossmont College Griffins scored the first touchdown of the game against host Riverside City College on Saturday night, but the Tigers had the last laugh in a 37-10 win at Wheelock Stadium.
JARIUS BURNETTE scored on an 8-yard run with 8:46 left in the opening quarter.
But the Tigers scored just a little over two minutes later, then added another first-period score. A second-quarter field goal had Riverside up just ten points at halftime.
Grossmont kicker ETHAN ALBERTSON knocked home a 29-yard field goal five minutes into the second half to close the RCC lead to within a touchdown.
The Griffins’ WILTON CRAVENS had three catches for a team-high 57 yards receiving.
Grossmont’s D’SHEA WADE had an interception, while former Mountain Empire star BLAKE JARRELL had 13 tackles, seven of them solo.
ANTHONY SOLA had a sack for Grossmont.
Riverside kicker John Garabay had two of his three field goals in the third quarter.
The Tigers added a pair of touchdowns in the fourth, including the first of the year by ERICK “BUCK” BUCHANAN.
