Santana 1, Helix 0 – The Sultans won at home against the stubborn Highlanders to improve to 3-0-2 in league play. It was Helix’s first league loss (1-1-3).

Santana 1, Foothills Christian 0 – The Sultans won the East County matchup with the Knights. It was a matchup of two of the area’s top teams, but FCHS lost for the first time this season.

 

Friday, April 30, 2021

Valhalla 3, Grossmont 2 – The Lady Norsemen won on the road against the hard-fighting Foothillers. Valhalla led 1-0 at halftime, then went up 2-0 in the second half. Grossmont got one back to make it 2-1. Valhalla immediately responded and scored to make it 3-1 before Grossmont finished the scoring with a late goal.

Helix 0, West Hills 0 – Maddie Morris earned the shutout in goal for West Hills with three saves.

Granite Hills 3, Steele Canyon 0 – Granite Hills scored twice in the first half en route to the league victory over the visiting Cougars.

Monte Vista 5, Mount Miguel 1 – Yulitza Castorena scored twice, while teammate Adriana Resendiz had a goal and two assists.

Santana 7, El Cajon Valley 0 – Santana won the league matchup at home.

Christian 5, University City 0 – The Patriots kept rolling with a road shutout, scoring twice in the first half. Sophomore Jasmine Guzman finished with two goals in the contest, while sophomore teammate Morgan Nipper added a goal and as assist. Junior Kate Beezer had four goals in the shutout.

Foothills Christian 9, Maranatha Christian 0 – Junior Raelyn Barnes had three goals and two assists, while Kylei Guerrero also had a hat trick. Sophomore Jasmine Cruz had two goals and two assists.

High Tech North County 2, River Valley 1 – The Snow Leopards were stunned at home for their first league loss of the season in four starts.

West Hills 1, Granite Hills 0 – Senior Gabby Setting scored on an assist from freshman Alexis Leath. Maddie Morris earned the win with five saves in goal.

Valhalla 1, Helix 0 – The Lady Norsemen got a goal from juior Alyssa Kasyouhannon on an assist from senior Peri Kraft.

Santana 1, El Capitan 1 – At Lakeside, the Lady Vaqueros earned a draw with the Sultans in a league game.

Grossmont 4, Steele Canyon 0 – The Foothillers poured it on with three second-half goals at home and won their first league game of the season.

Mount Miguel 8, El Cajon Valley 0 – Freshman Kenzie Reyna scored six times. Senior Kiana Rogers had the other two goals.

Christian 8, Hoover 1 – The Patriots rolled by the Cards behind a hat trick from Jasmine Guzman. Senior Stella Rubidoux added two goals and two assists.

River Valley 5, Liberty Charter 1 – The Snow Leopards won the Frontier-Summit League game.

Mountain Empire 2, Guajome Park 1 – Isabelle Schachner led the RedHawks to the non-league victory over the Frogs.

 

Monday, April 26, 2021

Christian 3, Santana 0 – The county fifth-ranked Patriots, the top-rated team in the East County, won the local match up in Santee.

 

Friday, April 23

Monte Vista 2, El Capitan 1 – Monte Vista scored the only goal of the second half to remain unbeaten in league play (3-0-1).

Jenna Valejo had a goal and an assist for the Monarchs. Adriana Resindez had the other Monte Vista tally.

West Hills 1, Grossmont 0 – West Hills scored in the first half for the road victory. Alexa Peterson, a freshman, had eight saves to record the shutout.

Santana 2, Mount Miguel 0 – The Sultans won at home to remain unbeaten in league play (2-0-1).

Granite Hills 2, Helix 2 – The Highlanders scored twice in the second half to remain unbeaten in league play at 1-0-2.

Valhalla 0, Steele Canyon 0 – Valhalla remained unbeaten in league play at 3-0-1 with the draw on the road.

Christian 0, Mira Mesa 0 – The Patriots hosted the scoreless draw as Kate Beezer made five saves for CHS.

Valhalla 1, West Hills 0 – Senior Peri Craft had the game’s only score.

Helix 2, Steele Canyon 2 – Helix scored the only second-half goal to earn the road draw. Courtney Miller and Alexa Ongley got the markers for the Cougars.

El Capitan 3, Mount Miguel 1 – Samantha Mauzy, Rylie Dodge, and Aliyah Thibeault scored for El Cap.

Monte Vista 13, El Cajon Valley 0 – Sophomore Yulitza Castorena and sophomore Alina Gutierrez Betancourt both had hat tricks in the road victory.

Christian 5, High Tech San Diego 0 – The Patriots’ Stella Rubidoux and Jasmine Guzman both scored a pair of goals for the road win.

Granite Hills 2, Grossmont 0 – The Eagles won at home.

Santana 3, Serra 1 – The Sultans won the non-league contest at home.

Foothills Christian 4, Del Lago Academy 0 – Foothills Christian remained unbeaten with the home victory.

Valhalla 2, Granite Hills 1 – Valhalla senior Kate Baranski had a goal and an assist, while teammate Abigail Escalante, a junior, scored the other goal.

West Hills 2, Steele Canyon 0 – Freshman Alexis Leath scored both goals for the Wolf Pack. Maddie Morris had five saves in goal for the shutout.

Monte Vista 2, Santana 2 – Freshman Brook Yeatts and sophomore Yulitza Castorena scored goals for the Monarchs.

River Valley 1, Orange Glen 1 – The Snow Leopards earned a tie in Escondido.

Foothills Christian 5, Pacific Ridge 5 – The Knights got into a wild one at home with the Firebirds.

Steele Canyon 1, Granite Hills 0 – Sophomore Graziella Mineo scored in the first half. Kassandra Jaggard had eight saves in the goal for the shutout.

Valhalla 1, Grossmont 0 – Senior Nicole Ayyad scored on an assist from senior Jenna Smith.

Helix 4, West Hills 0 – Helix recorded the shutout at home.

Monte Vista 9, Mount Miguel 0 – Yulitza Castarena had a hat trick and Adriana Resendiz had two goals and two assists.

Santana 9, El Cajon Valley 1 – The Sultans scored a road win over the Lady Braves.

Christian 2, University City 2 – Junior Harmony Blizard had both Christian High goals, which came in the second half. The Cents led 1-0 at halftime.

Foothills Christian 12, Maranatha Christian 0 – Junior Raelyn Barnes had a hat trick, but just as impressive was the fact the other 9 goals were scored by different players.

Sophomore Nicole Sharp had a team-high three assists, as well as, one of the goals.

Christian 3, Mater Dei 1 – The Patriots won behind a pair of goals by senior Leah Kunde. Sophomore Jasmine Guzman had a goal and an assist for the Pats.

Santana 4, High Tech San Diego 0 – The Sultans won the non-league contest in Santee.

Mount Miguel 2, Madison 0 – The Lady Matadors won with a pair of goals from Julianna Laverdiere. Junior Leanna Franklin recorded the shutout.

Patrick Henry 2, West Hills 1- Seniors Abigail Hayes and Maleia Ferreira scored for the Patriots.

Foothills Christian 8, River Valley 0 – The Lady Knights won as freshman Gianna Saffer had three goals and an assist. Junior Isabella Prieta scored twice.

High Tech North County 1, Mountain Empire 0 – Jordan Hanssen was the RedHawks’ Player of the Match in the road defeat at the Raptors.

Christian 5, Hoover 0 – Senior Leah Kunde had a hat trick as the Lady Patriots won with the shutout from Kate Beezer, who had three saves. Sophomore Jasmine Guzman had two assists.

Steele Canyon 11, El Cajon Valley 0 – The Cougars improved to 4-2-1 with a shut-out win over the Braves, who were making their season debut.

SC’s two-goal scorers were scored by senior Bella Nedjar, freshman Maddie Moran, freshman Elexez Rivera, freshman Ryxia Wagner, Anjolie Colon, freshman Sienna Barros, and Freshman Mylee Sturkey. Also scoring were Frida Alvarez-Paez and Alexa Yncera, who scored her second goal of the season.

Mountain Empire 1, High Tech North County 0 – Kaylee Boyd the RedHawks to the win over HTNC. MEHS improved to 3-1.

Hoover 9, Liberty 0 – The Cards routed the Lions with five goals in the second half.

West Hills 2, University City 0 – The Wolf Pack blanked the Centurions with goals from freshmen Cyann Retzloff and Tylor Splettsotesser.

Maddie Morris had four saves in goal for the shutout.

West Hills led 1-0 at halftime.

Steele Canyon 0, Scripps Ranch 0 – Senior goalkeeper Kassandra Jaggard was brilliant with huge saves all night and the Cougar defense of Franziska Semik, Makayla Sturkey, Kaelee Hubbard, Paris Wilson, and Chase Diffenbaugh secured the goalie’s third shutout of the season.

Scripps Coach Larry Pericano said: “SC played well on defense and smothered us. The goalie was awesome, she comes off her lines so quickly and took any opportunities away from us.”

Christian 8, Escondido Charter 1 – Christian senior Leah Kunde had a hat trick.

Stelle Rubidoux scored twice.

Kate Beezer had six saves in goal for CHS.

Mount Miguel 8, Guajome Park Academy 4 – The Matadors got four goals from Julianna Laverdiere and three from Kenzie Reyna.

Laverdiere had two assists.

Foothills Christian 9, Madison 0 – The Knights got two goals from juniors Kylei Guererro and Raelyn Barnes, and freshman Gianna Saffer.

Granite Hills 1, Hilltop 1 – The Eagles earned a draw on the road.

Mater Dei Catholic 2, Steele Canyon 1 – The Crusaders won on the road as SC got on the scoreboard first when senior Courtney Miller hit a left-footed shot into the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

Mater Dei tied it up on a penalty kick going into halftime.

In the second half, Mater Dei continued to assault the final third, but senior goalie Kassandra Jaggard was brilliant in stopping shot after shot.

The Crusaders scored to gain a 2-1 lead with 18 minutes to play.

SC sophomore Alexa Ongley hit a rebound past the Mater Dei keeper, as the whole Cougar bench and stadium erupted with what they thought was the equalizer, but out of nowhere, a Mater Dei defender cleared the ball from the goal line to preserve the Crusader win.

Steele Canyon 6, El Capitan 1 – Scoring for the Cougars were seniors Alexa Dugan and Frida Alvarez-Paez, junior Franziska Semik, sophomores Julie Yanez and Sophomore Alexa Ongley.

Ongley scored 2 goals.

Senior Courtney Miller had four assists, while senior Vanessa Hansen and sophomore Chase Diffenbaugh each had great passes that led to one-touch goals.

Freshmen Ryxia Wagner and Alexa Yncera made their varsity debuts and goalies Kassandra Jaggard and Anjolie Colon combined on the win.
