SAN DIEGO (12-9-16) — HUNTER GAINES knocked down 3 triples, grabbed 6 rebounds, 2 assists and one steal as the visiting Foothillers futily played catch-up against Serra in Thursday’s (Dec. 8) Game On Challenge.

Serra ran the table on the Foothillers to claim a 58-49 victory over Grossmont.

“We just didn’t play very well,” said Foothillers’ coach FRANK FOGGIANO.

DOMONIQUE GUEVARA added a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds along with 3 assists and 2 steals.

Despite the loss the Foothillers were 12-for-18 at the free throw line, including MORGAN STIDUM shooting 5-for-6 at the line and Gaines going 2-for-2.

Grossmont:  Domonique Guevara 11 (11 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl), Hunter Gaines 11 (6 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl), Jamie Odom 8 (5 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl), Hunter Mulder 5 ( 5 reb), Morgan Stidum 5 (1 reb, 1 ast), Mykol Rodriguez 4 (2 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl), Austin Odom 3.

 

POWAY 71, MONTE VISTA 38 – Poway pulverized Monte Vista in an Eagle Invitational game Thursday (Dec. 8) in North County.

“It’s pretty hard to win games with one player,” said Monte Vista coach MIKE TULLY.

DEONDRE McHAYLE had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals to lead the Monarchs.

“I could have taken him out earlier, but it didn’t really matter at that point,” said Tully.

DAVID GARCIA added 8 points and 8 rebounds for the Monarchs, who were outscored across the board.

“We have some skill but we need to build on some experience,” Tully noted.

Monte Vista plays at Olympian on Tuesday (Dec. 20) at 7 p.m.

Monte Vista:  Deondre McHayle 23 (10 reb, 4 stl), David Garcia 8 (8 reb), Gabrial Galvez 5 (4 reb), Fernando Guererro 2 (3 reb), Andrew Gonzalez 1 (2 reb), Andrew Canty (5 reb), Arman Johnson (4 reb).

 

PATRICK HENRY 82, VALHALLA 59 – The Norsemen lost their first game of the season to the Patrick Henry Patriots 82-59 in the Baron-Matador Classic to fall to 3-1.

The Norsemen played a strong first half and trailed 33-32 at the intermission. The Norsemen were led by MALIQUE SHAW who had 19 points and 12 rebounds.

The Norsemen play their final game of the Baron-Matador classic Friday night (Dec. 9) at Escondido High School.

 

MT. CARMEL 74, EL CAPITAN 26– No further information provided for this Eagle Invitational game.
