KEARNY MESA (3-3-16) — The Grossmont College Griffin softball team put on a hitting display en route to an 8-0 run-rule shortened six inning game on Wednesday (Mar. 2) at Olympian Diamond.
In a battle to see who will stay close to the top of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, the San Diego Mesa Olympians (13-5, 3-1 PCAC) kept the game close in the early innings, but couldn’t keep the Griffins (13-5-1, 3-2 PCAC) off the scoreboard, allowing the Griffins to pull within a half-game of Mesa for second place.
Mesa came into the contest after Santa Barbara snapped their 10-game winning streak this past Saturday. Grossmont was also coming in off a loss that snapped a mini two game winning streak.
Grossmont will take on Victor Valley (1-17, 0-3 Foothill) on Friday (Mar. 4) and then turnaround and host Saddleback (6-8, 2-3 Orange Empire) on Saturday in non-conference action.
