RIVERSIDE (11-16-15) — It is always tough to play three competitive basketball games in as many days.  The Grossmont College Griffins experienced that on Sunday (Nov. 15) as they lost the third place game of the 2nd annual “Earning Our Stripes” tournament at Riverside City College 62-54 to Cerritos.

The Griffins (1-2) were led by freshman COURTNEY BRANCH (Patrick Henry) who has been a force in the first three games this season, put 10 points in for the Green and Gold.

Both teams struggled coming out of the gate as neither team reached double figures.  Another thing that both teams had to deal with was tired legs.  As previously mentioned it was the third game in as many days.

For the game Grossmont made 39 percent of their shots, compared to Cerritos’ 34.5 percent.

While the game and score were close, what was not close was the differential of free throw shots between the two clubs.  Cerritos made 17 of 25 attempts, while Grossmont hit 40 percent of their 10 attempts.
