Griffins can’t get pitching on track in home loss to Vikes

EL CAJON (2-12-16) — When the Griffin pitching staff puts a couple of shutout innings together, they are going to be pretty darn good.
They just need to put those innings together.
On Wednesday (Feb. 11) the Vikings of Long Beach doubled up the Griffins 8-4 in a non-conference game at Noel Mickelsen Field.
TANNER PERRY (Steele Canyon) did his best to keep the Griffins (1-4) in the game as he collected three hits in his five at-bats. Seven other Griffins scratched out base hits in the 10 hit attack against Viking (2-3) pitching.
CRAIG GRUBBE (0-2, University City) was tagged with the loss, going just three and two-thirds innings. In the short time on the mound, the sophomore allowed 11 hits and seven runs (all earned) to cross the plate. In his two outings so far, Grubbe has thrown nine innings and possesses a 12.00 ERA.
Saturday (Feb. 13), the Griffins will try to get back on the winning ways as Santa Ana will come to El Cajon. Grossmont traveled to Santa Ana to begin the season and dropped that contest 10-8. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
