CLAIREMONT (5-5-16) — The Christian High Patriots could generate only five hits in Wednesday’s (May 4) Central League game at Clairemont.
Twelve times the Patriots hit fly ball outs; on six more occasions they struck out.
Christian would have been shutout in the 6-2 loss to Clairemont had not KYLE STOWERS slugged his 3rd home run of the season with a man aboard, which at the time gave Christian a 2-0 lead in the third inning.
Stowers in fact accounted for 3 hits for Christian, including a double to go along with his home run. Other than his efforts the Patriots were anemic at the plate.
The only other Patriots who would reach first base on singles were JUSTIN LEDGERWOOD and NATE CAZARES.
Christian is now trailing front-running Coronado by 2½ games.
