Now the challenge for the Patriots will be to execute a road win on Friday (May 26) at Cathedral at 3 (time change from 3:30 p.m.), then get eight seniors back to school for graduation at 7.

It’s going to be close,” Patriots coach MIKE MITCHELL said. “Same thing as last year, when we played San Marcos (and lost). We managed to get back for graduation at 6:55.”

Hoguisson follows the path of his first-inning home run on Wednesday.

Christian had a promising start on Wednesday as ZACH HOGUEISSON slammed a line drive home run to right field in the first inning on a 3-2 change-up.

The score remained 1-0 until the top of the 5th inning when sixth-seeded Torrey Pines unleashed 5 runs, then followed with 4 in the 6th and topped it off with one in the 7th.

“We were just mentally tired,” Mitchell said. “We have eight seniors who are already out of school, and the rest of the team were in finals. It wasn’t a good combination.”

GARRETT NIELSEN went 2-for-2 for Christian (22-8).

Jake Boone drove in two runs for the Falcons to start the onslaught. He finished with four RBI.
