A Big third inning in which the Falcons push across five runs dooms the Wolf Pack despite some opportunities.

Scripps Ranch would take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Lexi Osowski double to score Alyssa Vilke.

The Wolf Pack had an opportunity with one down in the top of the second inning with Gabby Clippinger (2-3, R, RBI) and Carly Bursch (2-3, RBI) on base but unfortunately both would be stranded as the next two batters would be retired.

Things would go the Wolf Pack’s way in the top of the third as both Jules Fossing (1-3, R) and Alyssa Bubar (1-2, R) singled, with one out Ashleigh Hartwig (3-4, R, RBI, 2B) came up and roped a double to right to score Fossing to tie the game 1-1. That would be all the Pack would muster as the next two batters were retired.

With the score tied in the bottom of the third inning the Falcons took advantage of a leadoff walk and five singles to push across five runs and retake the lead 6-1. They would score a couple more runs the next inning to extend their lead 8-1.

However West Hills scratched away at the deficit in the top of the fifth with two outs as Bubar walked, Hartwig singled, Clippinger laced a single to score Bubar, Star Gaylord reached on an error which allowed Hartwig to come in and score and Bursch singled to score Clippinger to make the score 8-4.

Scripps Ranch answered right back with another run in the bottom of the inning as Vilke led off with a triple and scored on a groundout by Osowski to make it 9-4.

The Wolf Pack put a couple runners on in the top of the seventh as Bubar walked, with one out Clippinger singled which advanced Bubar to third. However the next two batters were retired to end the game.

Taking the loss for the Pack was Bursch who went 4 inning giving up 8 runs on 12 hits while walking 4, Kimmie Brouard came in relief and tossed 2 innings giving up a run on one hit while walking 3 and striking out 1.

On the other side for the Falcons, Elaine Swecker started and went 3 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits while walking 1, however it would be Ashley Tong getting the win in relief as she went 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1.
