EL CAJON (2-23-2019) – What was once a great, evenly-balanced rivalry, is now more a one-sided affair.

Grossmont College whipped crosstown rival Cuyamaca College for the 11th time in 12 meetings, taking a 70-61 road victory to cap the regular season on Friday (Feb. 22).

The triumph gave the Griffins, once 0-6 in South Division play in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, three victories over their last four outings to gain a share of fourth place. The finished 6-23 overall (3-7 PCAC).

Meanwhile, the Coyotes (4-24 overall, 1-9 PCAC) finished in the cellar for the third straight season, and last for the fifth time this decade.

At one time, the all-time series was level at 13-all. However, since Grossmont posted an upset, overtime triumph in the 2006-07 season, it’s been virtually all Griffins.
