ROUNDUP: Ingrassia gets two wins

VALHALLA 5, MONTGOMERY 4 (8) – At the Aztec-Foothiller Classic, the Norsemen got the walkoff win in the bottom of the eighth.

Joseph Ingrassia singled on a 3-2 count for the game-winner. He also struck out the side in the top of the inning to earn the win with one inning of work.

Valhalla, in the first inning, scored on Ryan Perot’s sacrific fly.

Riley O’Sullivan, of Valhalla, went four innings, allowing no runs on two hits, striking out five and walking none.

Valhalla’s Kyle Casper hit a home run in the seventh inning.

Ingrassia went 4-for-5.

VALHALLA 10, OTAY RANCH 4 – In an afternoon game at the Aztec-Foothiller Classic, O’Sullivan went 3-for-4, as Valhalla overcame a 3-1 first-inning deficit.

Valhalla tied the game with two in the third, then took the lead with a run in the fourth.

Valhalla’s Aaron Lane went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Trey Henige, Ryan Perot, and Luke Clark each had two hits for Valhalla (2-0).

Dunnam had a double and scored a run.

Ingrassia picked up his second win of the day, going five innings, allowing four hits while striking out seven. He also drove in two runs.

GROSSMONT 4, MADISON 0 – Senior DREW SHIRVANIAN and sophomore JADEN WILCOX combined on a four-hit shutout for Grossmont.

KEONI VALDEZ doubled and drove in two runs for the Foothillers.

Wilcox struck out the final batter to finish off the game.

In the first inning, Valdez singled on a 2-1 pitch, driving in a run.

Shirvanian allowed two hits and no runs over five innings, striking out six.

BRANDON SMITH and GIO GIGANTI both had two hits for the Hillers.

Sophomore ISAIAH GOMEZ added a sacrifice fly in the sixth for Grossmont (1-1).

CHRISTIAN 8, MAR VISTA 3 – The Christian Patriots defeated Mar Vista on Saturday thanks to a big five-run fifth inning that turned a 3-1 lead into into a seven-run margin.

Junior Matt Souza capped the rally with a two run single. A walk by Peyton Berroth and a double by Alex Markowicz also factored into the scoring.

Christian scored in the third inning when Carson Stroman (2-for-4) singled on a 3-0 count, driving in the game-winning RBI.

Trace Ramos was the winner for Christian. He went 4 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and two unearned runs while walking none.

Braeden Ross came in to throw 1 1/3 innings in relief, as he recorded the last four outs to earn the save, striking out two.

RANCHO BUENA VISTA 4, EL CAPITAN 3 – The Vaqueros led 3-0 after 2 1/2 innings of the Hilltop Tournament game on Saturday, but the Longhorns scored two in the sixth and won the game in the last at-bat in the seventh.

In the second inning, El Capitan scored on a single by Jake Bergherm.

Bergherm added a sacrifice fly in the third.

Kevin Allison started and went 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four. He also walked twice at the plate and scored a run.

Jake Pfitzner went 2-for-3 for El Cap.

OCEANSIDE 3, MONTE VISTA 0 – Sophomore ERNIE ARAMBULA had the only hit against Oceanside after starter Alan Perez, who went six-plus innings, finally allowed a hit to lead off the seventh in a Pirates Tournament game.

Perez then hit ABRAHAM SANCHEZ, which finished his outstanding effort. Sanchez also had the only other blemish against Lopez, with an earlier base-on-balls.

Monte Vista sophomore CHRIS LEASK struck out five in two innings, allowing a hit and a walk in relief of senior starter CAMERON SCHULER.

MADISON 8, HELIX 4 – In an Aztec-Foothiller Classic game, the Warhawks scored three runs in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead.

ERIC SMELKO had an RBI single to tie the game at 2-all in the top of the second.

CARLOS OQUITA had a sacrifice fly in the top of the first for Helix.
