At Ramona: The Poway Titans (9-9, 4-1) equaled a school record by slugging five home runs, sweeping a three-game series from the Ramona Bulldogs (12-5, 2-3). It was also Ramona’s biggest shutout setback in the 21s Century (previously: 15-0, vs. Las Vegas-Silverado, 2015)

Calipatria 17, Julian 12 — Both teams were winless, so someone had to win, as the hist Hornets (1-5) defeated the Eagles (0-8) in the Imperial Valley.

At Granite Hills: Following a 6-year break in the series, the Eagles held El Capitan to just one run for the fourth straight ballgame == all wins for Granite Hills.

Eurijah Schutza tossed 4.1 innings of 1-hit ball for the triumph. Reliever Brodey Vicars retired all eight Vaqueros batters he faced for the save.

El Cap pitcher Nathan McLean kept his ball club close with a complete=game effort, only allowing five hits.

However, one poor pitch cost him when Schutza belted a 2-run homer, part of three Eagles runs in the first.

Granite Hills (13-4 overall) remain in a virtual deadlock with Grossmont for first place in the GHL. The Eagles are 4-12 GHL, the Hillers are 2-0, so the Games Behind column is even.

Grossmont 18, Valhalla 2
At Rancho San Diego: OrangevNation hung tough for two frames, tied at 1-all. Afterward, well… never mind.

The Hillers (9-8 overall) are in first place after opening their GHL season with a 2-game sweep of the Norsemen, just like El Cap did last week.

Grossmont — Tyler Holmes, 3-for-3, 3 runs, 3 RBI on 3-run homer; Korey Penley, 3 hits, 2 doubles, 4 RBI; Nathan Clark,3-run double.
