SPRING VALLEY — The Helix Highlanders utilized their trademark speed and field event dominance to pull away from the field, finishing with 143.5 points to take the boys’ team championship on Friday, May 8.
It was Helix’s third-straight conference title.
The Lead Angle: Highlander Strength Helix’s Anthony Gash provided the muscle for the championship run, sweeping both the Shot Put (52-04) and Discus (165-04). On the vertical side, Trey Edwards hit an elite mark in the High Jump, clearing 6-06 to win by two inches.

Hurdle Master: Helix’s Aiden De Hoyos put up a standout 38.13 in the 300m hurdles.

Distance King: Grossmont senior Daxton Rideout won the 1600m (4:18.22) and 3200m (9:35.12) double, outlasting a deep Helix distance squad.
