2015 EAST COUNTY PREP FOOTBALL

LEAGUE PREDICTIONS

EL CAJON (10-6-15) — The No. 2 ranked Helix Highlanders (3-1), Granite Hills (4-1), Christian (3-2) and Mountain Empire 2-4 are selected to win their respective East County football leagues this season. The league campaign will begin on Friday (Oct. 9).
The two Grossmont Conference Leagues will have a new look this season. Mount Miguel and El Capitan will join the Grossmont Hills League, while Granite Hills and West Hills will be aligned in the Grossmont Valley league.
Here is the breakdown of the respective leagues and predicted order of finish.
GROSSMONT HILLS LEAGUE
No. 1 – Helix (3-1) – Could be county’s best team.
No. 2 – Grossmont (5-0) – Hopes to win the Musket and more.
No. 3 – Valhalla (4-1) – Banks hopes on its defense.
No. 4 – Steele Canyon (3-2) – Is a dark horse for loop title.
No. 5 – Mount Miguel (3-2) – Could surprise with key upsets.
No. 6 – El Capitan (2-3) – Defending league champion is in rebuilding mode.
GROSSMONT VALLEY LEAGUE
No. 1 – Granite Hills (4-1) – A cozy fit for the defensive minded Eagles.
No. 2 – El Cajon Valley (4-1) – Features an explosive offense.
No. 3 – West Hills (2-4) – Geared for a strong finish.
No. 4 – Santana (4-2) – Must find a way to stop the run.
No. 5 – Monte Vista (2-4) – Picking up steam; could escape cellar.
CITY LEAGUE
No. 1 – Christian (3-2) – If healthy, could be a runaway for the Patriots.
No. 2 – Hoover (2-3) – Never count out a Jerry Ralph team.
No. 3 – Patrick Henry (2-4) – Been in a slump of late.
No. 4 – Morse (2-3) – Has momentum of two straight wins.
No. 5 – Serra (0-6) – Q-Dawgs have been outscored 320-19.
MANZANITA LEAGUE
No. 1– Mountain Empire (2-4) – Red Hawks are gaining momentum.
No. 2 – Crawford (4-2) – Championship within reach.
No. 3 – Vincent Memorial (6-0) – Defense is key for the fighting Scots.
No. 4 – Calipatria (3-3) – Totally mismatched.
No. 5 – Holtville (0- 6) – The Vikings hope to break into the Win column.
