Valhalla pals O’Sullivan, Dirkes make college choices

EL CAJON (8-10-16) – A pair of Valhalla baseball players have cast their collegiate futures with scholarships to two major four-year colleges.
Senior right-handed pitcher CASEY O’SULLIVAN has committed to play at San Diego State University, it was announced on Wednesday, and senior shortstop-second baseman LEWIS DIRKES has earned his ticket to play at Cal State Bakersfield.
Dirkes’ made his choice two weeks ago.
In 2016, O’Sullivan (Grossmont Hills League second team) was 2-7 with a 2.05 ERA. He started 12 games, completing 3 and had 64 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched.
Dirkes started 31 games as the Norsemen’s leadoff hitter, hitting .280 (30-107) with 5 doubles and 2 triples to go along with 7 RBI, scoring 17 runs and swiping 14 bags.
