Eagles cash out with Vegas Invite win

LAS VEGAS – A night after dropping a five-point decision a day earlier, the Granite Hills Eagles went back to work and put together a full deal to take out Mountain View Christian of Las Vegas 69-56 in the Las Vegas Invitational.
Leading the charge in the first quarter was Austin Ballo who led with 9 points en route to the Eagles scoring 18 points in the quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagles would score 15 points while McKay Roberts would lead all scorers with 10 points at the break.
On the night leading the charger for Granite Hills was Moses Smith who really took over in the second half scoring 21 of his team-high 29 points while both Ballo and McKay each had 13 points.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 6-3 on the season.
Granite Hills took a loss to Buckley, 56-51, on Wednesday, and a day earlier, the Eagles fell to St. Joseph, 74-64.
Senior Ray Cuero led Granite in scoring against Buckley with 19 points, including four three-pointers. He scored 11 points in the fourth quarter in that one.
Roberts sank three threes in the opening quarter for the Eagles against Buckley, but Granite had just a seven-point second.
