Mount Miguel 54, Del Norte 53 – The Matadors edged the Nighthawks on Saturday to improve to 2-0 as Jennifer Moreno led the way for Mount Miguel with 17 points, including a pair of three-pointers. She also added five rebounds.
Ixchel Rojo came home with 14 points, including a three-pointer, as well as, six assists, six steals, and four rebounds for Mt. Miguel.
Nataly Bravo added nine points for the Matadors, including a three-pointer.
Zanna Hurst had five points, four rebounds, and three steals for Las Matadoras.
Matador Micaela Luffborough contributed seven points, including a three-pointer, along with three steals and two assists.
Yaneli Rosales had three rebounds, two steals, and knocked down a free throw for Mount Miguel.
Valhalla 35, Preuss UCSD 26 – Down 8-7 at halftime, the Lady Norsemen outscored the Tritons, 13-7, in the third quarter.
The victory gave new head coach David Sledge his first win in his very first game at the helm of the Lady Norsemen program.
Monte Vista 67, Tri-City Christian 28 – The Monarchs led 37-9 at halftime to improve to 2-1.
San Diego HS 49, Liberty Charter 35 – Freshman Jordan Dillon led the Lions with 13 points, including a three-pointer, and 10 rebounds, while senior Izzy Woodhams added 11 points and eight boards. The duo combined for 11 steals.
Imperial 52, El Capitan 27 – The Lady Vaqueros were outscored 33-10 in the first half by the Tigers.
Olympian 56, Steele Canyon 25 – Steele Canyon lost its season opener to the Eagles, who already improved to 3-1.
